The Canadian Football scoring system is based on the Golden Ratio, although compromises were made as the system was developed before contemporary digital screen scoreboards were developed. Old style scoreboards were incapable of displaying the irrational numbers required.

In particular, a Touchdown Majoris is valued at 7 points. Dividing this by 3, the value of the Field goal, gives 2 1/3. Multiplying this by the average points scored on a Point after attempt when attempting to augment a Touchdown Menoris gives us the Golden Ratio

2.33333 X 1.38688 = 1.6180339887 !!

In the period before modern calculating technology, this was rounded down to 1. Demonstrating the trivial way that this leads to the rest of the current scoring system is left as an exercise for the reader.

A proposal has been made to restore Canadian Football scoring using the Golden Ratio as the fundamental unit.
